Neurological Physiotherapy

What is Neurological Physiotherapy?

Neurological physiotherapy is the assessment and treatment of individuals who have injury or disease of their central nervous system ‐ brain and spinal cord. It is a specialised field of physiotherapy and the assessment and treatment differs greatly to the musculoskeletal physiotherapy that most people are familiar with. Neurological physiotherapy aims to assess and help the patient to optimise their movement potential and quality of life. We have a team of experienced chartered physiotherapists who specialise in the assessment and treatment of patients with neurological conditions.

Conditions Include:

Multiple Sclerosis
Parkinson’s Disease
Acquired Brain Injury
Motor Neuron Disease
Spinal Cord Injury
Guillian‐Barre Syndrome

Our neuro physiotherapists will be able to complete a detailed assessment.

Our Physiotherapists will assess the function of the client, and will then collaboratively develop a treatment program to help work towards the individuals’ personal goals. A variety of treatment techniques may be used to assist in your rehabilitation including manual therapy, massage, passive stretching, postural re-education, acupuncture, gait re-education, sensory and balance re-education, falls prevention programmes, advice on appropriate aids, equipment and adaptations, strengthening programmes and advice for family and carers. We are also happy to liaise with other healthcare professionals involved to ensure there is good communication and optimal therapeutic intervention.
